Resident Evil: Code Veronica Gets a First-Person Remake

Capcom is bringing Resident Evil: Code Veronica back as Resident Evil Veronica, a remake of the Dreamcast-era survival horror game. Rock Paper Shotgun reports that the reveal trailer landed during Summer Game Fest 2026, and the current Steam page lists the project under the Resident Evil Veronica name.

Why This Matters

Code Veronica has long sat in an unusual place in the Resident Evil library: important to the series timeline, but less readily accessible than the numbered entries that Capcom has already remade. A first-person remake gives the studio a chance to reintroduce the story while also asking players to experience its older mansion-and-laboratory dread from a closer perspective.

What to Watch

The remake is using the shorter Resident Evil Veronica title on Steam.

The reveal trailer frames the project around "madness and intrigue."

Rock Paper Shotgun reports a 2027 launch window rather than a firm date.

A first-person presentation could make this feel closer to Resident Evil 7 and Village than the recent third-person remakes.

For Players and Parents

This is still Resident Evil, so families should expect horror violence, grotesque imagery, and sustained tension. For older players who already follow the series, the remake may be worth watching because it revisits a chapter that is harder to play today. Parents deciding for teens should wait for ratings details and gameplay footage before assuming it fits the same comfort level as other action games.
