Wallguards expansion Vow of Victory joins planned November 10 Kickstarter launch
Garphill details new Mercenaries and dice while defending the decision to offer an optional expansion alongside the base game.
Garphill Games plans to launch Vow of Victory alongside Wallguards of the East Empire on November 10, 2026, giving prospective Kickstarter backers an expansion to consider from the outset. Announced on November 5, the add-on brings new Mercenary units and dice, while the publisher says the base game is designed to stand on its own.
The launch sits within the Kickstarter plans Garphill previously announced for Wallguards. November 10 is the planned campaign launch, not an announced delivery or retail release date.
According to Garphill, Vow of Victory includes 12 new Mercenary units, with only three used in each game. That gives returning players different combinations to explore rather than putting every new unit into a single session.
The expansion also introduces new siege and purple dice. Garphill says purple dice can reach five strength but carry a greater chance of rolling a blank, offering a higher potential result with a greater risk of getting nothing. The announcement does not quantify that blank probability.
Garphill also addressed what it described as online questions and criticism about offering an expansion alongside the base game. The publisher denies removing content from Wallguards to sell separately, saying the base game’s design and development were completed nearly a year before the announcement and that Vow of Victory was designed afterward.
For buyers deciding whether to include the expansion, Garphill’s stated distinction is between a complete base experience and added variety. It describes Vow of Victory as entirely optional and pitches it especially to players returning after more than ten plays. That is the publisher’s recommendation, not an independently tested assessment of when the extra content becomes worthwhile.
