Restoration Games announces Chaos in the Old World reimagining
Devastation in the Dread World leads a three-game Games Workshop licensing deal, with crowdfunding planned for early 2027.
Chaos in the Old World is getting a new incarnation with its original designer involved. Restoration Games and Games Workshop announced a multi-year licensing agreement on November 5, 2026, led by Devastation in the Dread World, a reimagining of the game for the Talisman Realm brand. Restoration says Eric Lang is joining its design team for the project.
The announced design keeps area control and asymmetric factions, while introducing scenario-based play in place of random events. Those details point to a revival that preserves key elements of the earlier design rather than simply borrowing its name, though the announcement offers only a limited picture of the revised rules.
Devastation and the deal’s two companion games will share Gravemarch, an original setting Restoration is developing exclusively for Games Workshop’s expanded Talisman Realm brand. The publisher describes a high-fantasy world where malevolent factions compete for control of humanity’s remaining enclaves. That is a dark premise, but it does not by itself establish whether the finished game endorses or glorifies the evil it depicts.
Restoration plans to launch crowdfunding for Devastation in the Dread World in early 2027, with a retail release afterward. No exact campaign date or retail release date has been established, so readers interested in either route have a broad sequence rather than a firm purchasing timetable.
The other two revivals reach into different parts of Games Workshop’s catalog. Dungeons of Gravemarch: The Card Game is a restoration of Space Hulk: Death Angel – The Card Game. Warrior Knights revisits the 1985 game, which previously received a new version in 2006. Restoration tentatively schedules both titles to debut in 2028.
