Bandai Will Debut a New Naruto Card Game at Gen Con 2026
Bandai Card Games is bringing Naruto back to the card table. ICv2 reports that Bandai has announced Naruto Card Game, a new TCG that will debut at Gen Con 2026.
The announcement gives Naruto fans a real timeline rather than just a brand tease. Bandai plans tutorial sessions at Gen Con 2026, with a worldwide release scheduled for 2027.
What Bandai announced
Naruto Card Game is based on Masashi Kishimoto's manga about Naruto Uzumaki, a ninja in training. ICv2 says the game will feature competitive, strategy-focused play.
That matters because Bandai already has active card-game infrastructure. ICv2 specifically frames this alongside recent English reboots of Gundam TCG and Digimon TCG. Naruto is not a random licensing experiment; it fits a pattern of Bandai rebuilding or relaunching anime-driven card games for English-language players.
This is also not Naruto's first time in the format. ICv2 notes that Bandai released Naruto CCG in 2006, and that earlier game ran until 2013. The new announcement is therefore a rebooted attempt, not a first edition.
Why it matters for TCG players
Anime card games live or die on more than recognition. A strong license can get people to try a starter deck, but organized play, card availability, rules clarity, and product cadence decide whether the game lasts.
The Gen Con tutorial plan is a good sign. It means Bandai wants people to learn the game in person before the worldwide release. That can help the game avoid the common problem of curious fans buying cards without a local play structure.
Crosspad perspective
For families, Naruto Card Game could be an easy on-ramp if the rules are approachable and starter products are fair. Naruto has a broad audience, and a strategy-focused game could give older kids and teens something deeper than simple collecting.
The caution is the usual TCG caution: wait for product details. We still need starter deck contents, booster structure, rarity information, organized play plans, and pricing. Until those are clear, this is a promising announcement rather than an automatic buy.
If Bandai applies what it has learned from Gundam and Digimon, Naruto Card Game could land with a stronger foundation than the older Naruto CCG had by the end of its run.
