Pillars of Gromlak joins Osprey’s five-book wargames lineup for 2027
The Orc-and-Goblin skirmish game ties campaign standing to recruitment, with US availability scheduled for February 23.
Osprey Games has announced five Osprey Wargames books planned for 2027, including Pillars of Gromlak, a fantasy skirmish game in which campaign results shape the followers players can recruit. The October 7 announcement outlines a lineup spanning Orc-and-Goblin clashes, grand-scale fantasy battles and historical warfare.
Written by Dan Bonter and illustrated by Bonedust, Pillars of Gromlak is listed for preorder on Osprey’s US store, with availability scheduled for February 23, 2027. The publisher describes it as a campaign-based game focused on Orcs and Goblins, with players competing to become their tribe’s next Grand Warlord.
That contest unfolds through a series of Trials. According to Osprey, players compete to accumulate Infamy, and changes in that standing affect which followers they can recruit for later Trials. Infamy therefore serves as more than a measure of success: it connects a player’s campaign fortunes to their future recruitment options.
Osprey also advertises simple statistics and interactive dice-pool combat. Those descriptions offer an outline of the rules, but do not establish how smoothly the system plays or how well its campaign mechanics hold up at the table.
The rest of the publication schedule places Bugles to the West in March 2027 and Trench Raiders in June 2027. Battle Standard: Grand-Scale Fantasy Wargaming follows with an autumn 2027 window. Osprey describes Battle Standard as setting-agnostic fantasy rules for battles using 6mm, 10mm and 15mm miniatures.
To Strike Down His Neighbor: 19th Century European Wargaming has a winter 2027 release window. It is billed as a historical mass-battle game covering European conflicts in the latter half of the 19th century, including the Franco-Prussian War. Both seasonal windows remain broader than the dated US listing for Pillars of Gromlak.
