Risk of Rain 2 Releases Hallowed Concepts DLC With Two New Survivors
The October 8 release adds stages, bosses and items, alongside an update with new skills and an optional tougher moon confrontation.
Risk of Rain 2’s purchasable Hallowed Concepts DLC is available now, bringing two new playable Survivors and an expanded lineup of stages, enemies and bosses. The team announced its availability on October 8, 2026, while Polygon’s Triple-i Initiative showcase recap reported that Gearbox had released it as a surprise.
According to the official release notes, Enforcer is unlocked by default, while Acolyte must be unlocked. The additions also include three new enemies, three new bosses, a new Elite type, three standard stages and several Trial stages.
The release notes list 14 Hexes, 11 Hallowed Items and three new standard items. Separately, under changes to the base game or previously released DLC, the team lists new skills for six original Survivors, each with its own unlock condition. That distinction matters for players deciding whether to buy the new expansion: not every change accompanying its launch is listed as Hallowed Concepts content.
Those accompanying changes also include an optional Karma system. The team says it can make the final confrontation on the moon significantly harder, giving players another way to raise the challenge.
Christian players should note that Acolyte’s occult theme extends to a playable ability, rather than just background imagery. The official developer diary describes Sacrifice as channeling a fictional Death God’s power through a marked enemy to tear it apart. Playing a character who draws power from a fictional deity may be a conscience concern for those who avoid occult-themed mechanics. That depiction does not, by itself, establish that the game endorses real-world worship.
