Weaponized Ink has revealed Herd of Horns, a dinosaur-focused tabletop role-playing game in which players’ decisions shape the survival of an entire herd, according to Bleeding Cool. Created by Chris Gunning and Simon Berman, the project pairs individual dinosaur characters with collective responsibilities rather than making survival solely a personal concern.

The published description assigns one player the Game Master role while the others portray Ceratopsids living in a large, multi-species herd. Their activities include exploring Laramidia, securing territory and establishing migration routes. Predators, environmental hazards and rival herds competing over scarce resources supply external threats, while internal politics make managing the herd another part of the challenge.

The announced rules use ten-sided dice, with occasional four-sided dice. Character attributes determine how many dice players roll, and outcomes fall along a sliding scale of success or failure. A secondary system handles actions taken on behalf of the whole herd, giving collective decisions a place in the rules alongside individual actions.

Seasons and climate also feature in the described mechanics, along with a simple player-created map of herd territories and migration routes. For groups drawn to exploration, that places mapping and environmental conditions alongside the social challenges of keeping the herd together. These are announced design features, not an assessment of how the rules perform in play.

Crowdfunding and preview availability remain unconfirmed. Bleeding Cool’s September 16, 2026 report listed September 22 as the planned Kickstarter start and described a free introductory packet intended to arrive beforehand, with core rules and limited character options for a prepublication beta test. That planned start date has passed as of October 15, 2026, but the report does not establish whether either the campaign or the packet went live.
